Book Review About Spinning by Tillie Walden ~ Ellen
What I like about this book is how detailed Tillie writes and tells the story. She makes sure that the reader understands what she's talking about. Also, Spinning is a very interesting book because of the various conflicts she experiences during her figure skating career. She talks about being sexually harassed, being bullied, and the struggles of being a talented figure skater.
Another thing that I like about this book is the art style. The illustrations are good for depicting what is going on in the story and helps the reader understand the art in figure skating as opposed to just reading words. The drawings help the reader visualize the words that Tillie is using to describe her experiences and fills the book with more emotion. I definitely recommend this book.
Hey Ellen! Wow this book sounds emotional! I like how you said the it "fills the book with more emotion". It can be so hard to describe graphic novels when relating the story and drawings. Your description of the plot was short easy to understand. Definitely will be reading!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds very intriguing! This sounds like a book with content on modern issues that need to be discussed. I really enjoyed your book review because it was concise and to the point. I got the information I needed, and it helped me gauge my interest in the book. To say the least, I am very interested. You did a great job in explaining the book holistically.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really good book! I'm not usually a fan of graphic novels, but this book is reeling me in. Your review is concise and you get your point across very well. You also did a great job at specifying what you liked most about the book and what could appeal to potential readers. Great job Ellen!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds really interesting! Your description of the plot was straight-forward, but talked about enough plot points to be enticing. You also did a great job of talking about your opinions about the book while giving a non-biased review and summary. Good job Ellen!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I enjoy about books is the unique voice/style that they may encapsulate; the art style you mentioned draws me in and I will definitely be reading this book in the future. Thanks for the review, Ellen!
